“I have hardly any mastery over myself. What I mean by this is that my thoughts and emotions are constantly out of reach. I’m an easily manipulated person. I have convictions but no matter as much as I want to it can’t compete against sudden desires. I’m at the mercy of deception and manipulation.
For an example, I can think that I don’t want to use my phone because it’s addicting but as soon as I’m in an uncomfortable social situation I pull it out straight away.
When I want to meditate I get distracted and never even get started.
The main thing is that I’m entirely driven by my subconscious and urges even when it goes against my convictions.
What can I do?”
Meditate daily.
Establish a meditation habit.
In the morning when you wake up or in the evening when you go to bed.
Start short at first, 3 minutes works well.
Do this for 1 month.
Whilst meditating allow your thoughts to flow and observe them neutrally without judgement.
You will get to know yourself better.
Through meditation you will discover who you are and what really brings you happiness.
The things that currently distract you will no longer be desirable.
