“Every meditation guru suggests that my mind should be chatter free. That I should stop the voices in my head and focus only on the present.
Although I kind of agree with this, 80% of the chatter is useless but at the same time 20% of the chatter is very useful.
As an example, I talk to myself and find different possible outcomes of a problem, find a solution for each of them, which may be overthinking, and in that way I prepare myself for everything.
Should I stop doing this?
Any guidance on how my mind should be when meditating will be helpful :)”
Keep going.
Our minds think, it’s what they do. Like our hearts pump blood and our lungs breathe.
When meditating, observe your thoughts from a neutral perspective, allow the unimportant thoughts to pass and flow away and focus on the important thoughts.
By addressing and resolving your important thoughts you will feel calmer, healthier and clearer. As your meditation progresses these effects grow.
