You can expect loads of thoughts to begin with as your mind adjusts and settles, this is normal.
As you meditate more you will notice which thoughts are important and which are not.
Allow the unimportant thoughts to flow away and focus on the important thoughts.

An easy meditation routine for beginners is to meditate for 3 minutes, 2 times per day for 1 month.
Meditate daily in the morning for 3 minutes after waking up and in the evening for 3 minutes before going to sleep.
This sets you up for a calm day, helps to get a good night’s sleep and builds a meditation habit.
