“Hi!
I’m a 22 years old girl, and I’ve been trying my best to meditate for 10 minutes before starting my day and usually I do it at work since there’s nothing much going on where I work.
But while I meditate I start to feel so anxious, I can’t calm myself and I’m just wishing it to be finished soon.
The way I meditate is not using any specific techniques, I follow guided meditation from apps.
I’ve been trying for less than a month so I’m such a newb in meditation.
Do you have any advice?
Thanks in advance!”
Start small and easy.
Our minds are usually busy all day, every day.
When starting to meditate we give our minds some space and it feels weird because we’re not used to it.
This may explain your anxious feelings.
At the moment you’re seeing meditation as a task that needs to be completed.
Finding the right way to meditate for you is important.
When you discover a meditation method that works for you meditation becomes enjoyable, you will want to meditate and wonder how the time went so fast whilst you were meditating.
Try meditating for 3 minutes, 2 times a day for 1 month.
3 minutes on a morning after you wake up and 3 minutes on an evening before you sleep.
Meditate at home in a quiet place rather than at work.
After building a daily meditation habit like this for 1 month you can gradually increase your meditation time.
