“I’m struggling to meditate because even when I’m trying not to think my inner voice is saying ‘no thoughts no thoughts no thoughts’.
I’ve been trying on and off to meditate for a while but never been able to get my head to go silent for more than a few seconds.
Although I spend a lot of time sitting with my eyes closed trying to meditate my inner voice still narrates the whole thing.
What can I do about this?”
Change how you meditate.
You can’t stop your mind from thinking, that’s what it does.
Trying to silence your mind or only focussing on your breathing is difficult.
Allow your mind to be free and let your thoughts flow.
You will have unimportant thoughts and important thoughts.
Allow the unimportant thoughts to flow away and focus on the important thoughts.
Doing this is working together with your mind rather than fighting against it.
You will feel naturally calmer and relaxed.
