“I’ve been consistent with meditating.
I’d go months trying every day, but I feel nothing.
I tried guided meditation, I’ve tried the whole sitting down and focusing on breathing, I’ve followed every guide I can but nothing has helped me.
I haven’t changed one bit.
Every issue I have with my life can apparently be fixed with meditation.
But I just can’t do it. I’ve went a whole hour meditating one time and nothing happened. I just kept thinking and whatever.
Please help, am I just immune to meditation?”
Meditation is a tool.
Your understanding of what meditation is and what you can expect from meditation may be what is holding you back.
You said:
“I’ve went a whole hour meditating one time and nothing happened. I just kept thinking and whatever.“
This is what meditation is.
Giving your mind the time and space it needs to think.
You can direct and focus your thoughts during meditation to address specific things in your life to find solutions and answers to those things.
The next step is taking real action in real life based on these solutions and answers. This is where the change happens and it appears that you are missing this important final step.
Try meditating and focus on a small challenge in your life. It may take a few meditation sessions to find an answer to this challenge, that’s normal and is OK.
When you have an answer, take real action in your life to address this challenge and resolve it.
Meditate like this and take action like this for a few small things in your life.
Once you are comfortable with how to meditate move on to meditating on larger and more complex challenges in your life. Allow your mind to generate ideas, find answers and then take real action to make those changes a reality.
Over time you will find that you clear your mind as you address and resolve the challenges in your life and you will feel relaxed because your mind is clear.
