How to handle interruptions during meditation?

“I am pretty good about being able to set aside 10-15 minutes to mediate without interruption.

However, as is life, things happen.

The dog starts uncontrollably barking, my wife wanders in unknowingly, etc etc.

My question is:

How do you handle getting interrupted mid-meditation:

Start over?

Continue on?

End the practice and try again later?

Just to clarify: it isn’t the noise per se that is the interruption.

It’s the things that need tended to that is the interruption.

For example, mid meditation someone knocked on our door needing a signature for a delivery.

Obviously I have to sign for it, I just am unsure about how to go back to meditating after coming out so abruptly.”

Interruptions will happen.

You can minimize interruptions by letting people know you are meditating or closing the door.

If it’s a quick interruption it’s usually easy to get straight back to meditating.

If the interruption pulls you completely out of your meditation zone you can pause and resume when you next meditate.

Go with how you feel in the moment.
