What does meditation actually do for you?

I want to start out by saying I have nothing at all against the practice.

I have of course heard how great and amazing meditation can be for you.

I’ve done it myself and it’s great for getting down from my anxiety attacks.

But aside from anxiety I don’t really get what meditation is for.

You just sit still and focus on your breath for a while and… that’s it?

Every time I’ve tried outside of an anxiety attack, afterwards I just think ‘Wow. I could have spend that half hour actually doing something productive.’

I don’t feel like there are any benefits to doing it when there is no need to do it, and yet I hear all these people say meditation makes them so much happier and calmer and it changed their lives.

I just am trying to see the value in it and I am struggling to.

Can you tell me what you feel like it ACTUALLY does or how it works?

Again, I’m not trying to be rude or hate on meditation, I just personally don’t get it.

Can you tell me how it helps you?”

Try meditating differently.

Instead of only focussing on your breath, allow your thoughts and emotions to flow whilst you meditate.

This will be a completely different experience and will open the door for you to experience the benefits of meditation.

Meditation gives your brain the time and space it needs to process everything.

This results in you feeling calmer, healthier and clearer.

Try meditating like this daily for a month and see how you feel.
