I want to meditate but I feel overwhelmed and confused

“I am going through a very difficult time at the moment with insomnia, anxiety and stress but I am grateful for discovering meditation as I truly believe it’s a stepping stone for a more peaceful and grateful life.

I’m very interested in learning how to meditate, but I have ADHD and trying to read and learn about all the different meditation practices is very overwhelming for me and I’m worried I won’t meditate the right way.

I sit down and focus on my breath, but all I can feel is my heart beating louder and it feels like I’m making my anxiety worse by focusing on it so much.

Am I allowed to have calming music on in the background or will it take away from the experience?

Should I focus on my breath when I meditate?”

There is no right or wrong way to meditate.

Meditate in a way that works for you.

You can have calming music on in the background.

As you progress with your meditation you may find that you prefer meditating without music.

Do not focus on your breath when meditating.

Breathe through your nose.

Breathe slowly and deeply.

When you meditate allow your mind to be free.

That which is most urgent and most important will automatically be at the front of your thoughts.

Pay attention to these thoughts and address these thoughts, they are important.

Through doing this you will find the root causes of your insomnia, anxiety and stress.

When you know the root causes of your insomnia, anxiety and stress you can take steps to resolve them.
