“I am about to do 10 minutes right now, and would love to do 10 minutes every day.
I find myself always trying to avoid meditating. I average meditating once every 3 or 4 days. Sometimes I will go for 7 days, sometimes I will avoid for 5 days.
What’s going on with me here?”
There are a few possible answers.
Your brain finds other things more stimulating. It wants to do those things rather than meditate.
Meditation brings our deepest thoughts and feelings to the surface. Sometimes it is difficult to accept these and deal with them so you may avoid meditating to avoid these thoughts and feelings.
Meditation benefits aren’t immediately obvious. You work a job and you get paid money. You exercise and you feel your heart and muscles working. Meditation is in the mind.
Take one day at a time.
Find a time where meditation easily fits in to your daily routine. When you wake up or before you sleep work well. Make it easy to meditate.
Over time meditation will become part of your normal day, just like brushing your teeth is now.
