I want to start meditating but I’m afraid I will stop thinking

“I know that some people start meditating to help quiet that inner voice and I really want that sometimes.

But I’m afraid that meditating will stop all my thoughts completely and I feel that if that happens I would be abandoning a part of me.

Any advice about this?”

There’s nothing to worry about.

Your thoughts can’t stop completely.

You will be calmer after meditating and if you are calmer you aren’t worrying about anything so your inner voice may not have much to say.

Rather than abandoning part of yourself, by meditating you are caring for and nurturing yourself.
