“I know it’s supposed to be good for you, but sometimes it feels like I’m just sitting there, lost in my thoughts.
I’m reaching out to you for help, what’s some advice you’d give to a meditation newbie like me?
How do you deal with distractions or feeling like you’re not doing it right?
What are some techniques or tips that have really helped you in your practice?
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated because honestly, I could use all the help I can get!”
What you are experiencing is normal for a beginner meditator.
As with anything new, when you start meditating you wonder if this is all there is to it and if you are doing it right.
Being with your thoughts is meditating.
Meditate somewhere quiet and calm where you can close the door and focus on meditating. This will minimize distractions from the outside.
Do not try to empty your mind or only focus on your breathing.
Your mind, emotions and thoughts will flow.
Allow them to and trust your mind.
Meditate daily, on a morning when you wake up and on an evening before you sleep are good times.
